Addiction
-
Anuvia Prevention and Recovery Center is a non-profit drug and alcohol rehabilitation center that has provided services to the Charlotte community since 1958. Whether you are seeking substance use treatment services for yourself or a loved one, have questions about your child’s behavior, or need training for yourself or your staff, Anuvia can help you. Our addiction treatment services include prevention, intervention, DWI/court, assessment, detoxification, outpatient treatment, and inpatient treatment.
If you have Medicare coverage, your insurance plan will cover many of the costs of drug or alcohol treatment (as discussed above). And while Medicaid programs vary from state to state, many states also offer coverage for low-income individuals seeking drug or alcohol treatment.
However, these aren’t the only ways in which the government can help pay for substance use treatment. Some treatment facilities accept state or federal funds and offer their services at low to no cost for eligible individuals. How can I pay for drug and alcohol treatment programs?
Treatment can be paid for by private insurance, Medicaid, Medicare, and self-pay; however, Anuvia will not turn anyone away because they can’t pay.

Our mission is to enable individuals and families to obtain and sustain safe, decent and affordable housing.
We provide a continuum of housing services for individuals and families, from those who are homeless or housing insecure to those who are considering homeownership. We offer services that help people throughout the housing spectrum.
Homeless to Housing
Programs to get people into safe, decent housing:
Rental Assistance: rental assistance if available to eligible clients (often earning 0 – 30% of the Area Median Income or AMI) and when funds are available.
Travelers Aid: a free service that aids people in transit who are in distress. We often serve people fleeing domestic violence, people returning from incarceration, and people exiting medical programs.
After securing stable safe housing, we encourage all of our Homeless to Housing customers to enter our Asset Building program. However, anyone can take advantage of the Asset Building program.
Asset Building
Educational and one-on-one support to gain and keep assets:
Get the Facts: this is the first step for anyone interested in buying a home but doesn't know where to start. This is a free educational and introductory class for those interested in our program before committing the Financial Empowerment program.
Financial Empowerment Program: After taking Get the Facts and paying for the Financial Empowerment program you will gain access to monthly educational workshops, opportunities to access down payment assistance, and one-on-one counseling for your homebuying journey. We meet you where you're at- whether you are lacing up your shoes or crossing the finish line.
Foreclosure Prevention: We offer free support to help you keep your home and avoid foreclosure.

Our participants come to the Harvest Center suffering from traumas, abuse, and neglect. At risk or situationally homeless, they lack the vital support systems that so many of us take for granted.
Here participants take part in a holistic biblically-based program that enables them to heal, grow and to discover their unique gifts. They obtain the degrees and mentoring necessary for them to pursue suitable jobs and careers. They evolve emotionally and spiritually, and they develop the skills and resilience necessary for them to live independently.

Salvation Army Center of Hope Shelter
The Salvation Army Center of Hope & Family Shelter programs are designed to provide emergency or transitional housing to families in need. Underlying this program is a motivation to identify the causes of homelessness and work to eliminate homelessness at its source.
We are an emergency shelter for women, children and families that provides three daily meals, case management, intervention programs, health care, and access to resources for children and teens. The program is free and open to Mecklenburg County residents.
While at the Center of Hope, families and individuals participate in programs and workshops developed to promote self-sufficiency and personal development. Each resident is matched with an on-site caseworker and together they develop an extensive, goal-oriented program designed to identify and overcome the barriers to safe, permanent housing.
Literacy
-
We are here to give the “Gift of Reading” and provide Adult Literacy and Adult Basic Education skills to those in our Community.
Fill My Cup! will continue to be ‘A Beacon of Light’ and a Voice for those who need us. With our Community’s partnering and support, we will continue to serve in our community until those we can touch, have been given the needed help to progress and achieve the adult literacy and adult basic education skills to help them along their path to success.
We provide one-on-one and small group tutoring (with the help of trained volunteers), to adults and families. Volunteers are trained to provide help with reading, writing, and math skills on levels beginning with the non-reader to the pre-High School Equivalency (HSE) a with a valuable support system for its students and volunteers. Tutoring lessons are confidential and are scheduled at a time and approved places convenient to both student and tutor. Our organization is governed by a volunteer board of directors who directs activities to raise funds, provides awareness about low-literacy and its effects, and oversees all student and tutor programs.
Who do we Serve?
We serve adults who are residents of Mecklenburg County, age 16 and over, that do not have their high school diploma or are not functionally literate. Those who want to learn to read, improve their reading and obtain needed pre-HSE skills.
How do we Serve?
Tutorial services are provided by community volunteers. Our volunteer tutors are trained in the use of the research-based adult literacy instructional strategies and curricula used by our organization to include pre-HSE skills. Using available reinforcement print materials, small group and one-to-one tutorials allow students to establish their own pace in learning needed adult basic education skills, to include reading, spelling, writing, math and pre-HSE skills.
Who Helps?
The general public, churches, civic organizations, corporate donors and private individuals partner and support Fill My Cup! Resources are used to purchase materials for the reading programs and support the other needs of providing our adult literacy services to the community. Student referrals are received from churches, job programs, public libraries, and other local community-based agencies.
